​Courteous: When you message someone always introduce yourself first instead of asking their ASL. It is best to introduce yourself and then ask How are you? they will reciprocate the same.

Don't be Aggresive: Don't use bad words if the person doesn't respond. Your communication skills will attract his/her attention.

Smile: Always use :) smileys in your chat while chatting. Not during Actions.

Try to compose your thoughts well and then write. Writing multiple short lines one after another without a conversation is distracting.

Patience: Have some Patience. Users may be typing long paragraphs or lines. Wait. Don't ask them to type fast. Typing fast means typing lots of short lines which some people may not prefer and you'll lose your chance to chat with someone.
